Thank you all so much for attending our end of summer BBQ! Although the rain changed the plan, we appreciate your flexibility and making the best of the situation. We had over 100 people in attendance, and every class had a chance to perform – we are so proud of all the children who practiced their songs to present to you all. And a special congratulations to our Satellite class who will be transitioning to kindergarten in September! Thank you to everyone who participated, came to cheer, brought items for our BBQ, or volunteered to help make the event a success. And thank you Chef Charles for the delicious hot dogs and burgers (and we appreciate that he cooked for us in the rain).

I have been out of the office this week visiting family in California but have been in close contact with staff at FCC. All is running smoothly, and I look forward to being back with you all next week. A few important reminders as we make our way through August below.

The kids were so busy this week with field trips to the Seattle Aquarium, West Seattle Arcade, and walks around the neighborhood and Lincoln Park’s famous troll. Everyone had a fantastic time exploring new places and spending time together. I will also be taking a short summer vacation to recharge and visit my family next week. FCC is in good hands with our staff, but I will be available for any urgent questions that arise.

What a busy start to July! We truly appreciate your patience and flexibility as we went through our major kitchen renovation. New shelving, a new oven, new sinks including a commercial dishwashing sink, new cabinets, and even new countertops. This will make such a difference for continuing to serve hot and timely meals to our classrooms. We knew there would be some interesting discoveries in this 100-year-old building, so please know that we have been carefully following all licensing and health codes throughout to ensure we meet the latest requirements for the updated kitchen. Be sure to pop in next week to take a look and say hello to Chef Charles.
